The Scirocco is the second bike in the 2013 Viking road range and named after the Mediterranean wind that comes from the Sahara and reaches hurricane speeds in North Africa and Southern Europe (Thankyou Wikipedia). The Scirocco is aluminium framed version of the entry level Viking Jetstream, it has the usual relaxed road race geometry with sloping top tube but comes in slightly lighter than the entry model. Shimano handlebar indexed shifters are fitted for effortless gear changing. Highlights include 36 hole Viking deep section alloy rims with quick release front hub and Shimano derailleurs. The larger 700C wheels with narrow 23C tyres and higher gearing make it easier to achieve and maintain higher speeds than a mountain bike or hybrid. The Scirocco comes equipped with a 14 speed transmission using a 14-28 Shimano freewheel on the rear and a 42-52 double chainset. Powerful alloy calliper brakes are fitted to slow the bike in all conditions. An ideal entry level bike for mid distance training.
